When God Brings Silence:

Years ago, our family went to Dwaalboom at an invitation to show the Jesus Film in a hall. What we experienced there, however, completely caught us off guard.

That evening, only teenagers and children showed up — the hall was packed. Some even pressed against the windows outside just to see.
The noise was overwhelming. It was impossible to speak.

Despite the chaos, we began to show the film.
Some weren’t even watching the movie; they were fascinated by the spinning reel.
Suddenly, a boy ran from the side and knocked over the projector stand.
My eldest son, Peet, grabbed the projector just in time, holding it in his arms while the film kept rolling.

In that moment, it felt to me: this evening is a failure… we are wasting our time.
I stepped forward and spoke aloud:
“The screening is over. You may go home. But before you leave, I want to pray.”
Though I thought no one was listening, I began:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name…”

Then something unexplainable happened.
By the third line, a holy silence fell across the hall —
a silence that no human explanation could account for.
I finished the prayer and said again that they could leave — but no one moved.
They just stood there, waiting…

Then the realization struck me:
They do want to hear… they want to know.
I simply shared the Way of Salvation and prayed with them.
That evening, each one invited Jesus into their life.
And in the deepest quiet, they went home, one by one.

What began as a failure, God turned into a holy encounter.

My Prayer:

Lord,
thank You that You are at work, even when everything seems chaotic and lost.
Thank You that You can bring silence where there is noise, and hope where there is disorder.
Teach us to trust You, even when we feel we have failed.
Use us, simply as we are, to bring glory to Your Name.

Amen.

Pieter se Nuusbrokkie - April ‘26

Wanneer God Stilte Bring:

Toe gebeur iets onverklaarbaar.

Toe tref die besef my:

Gebed:

Here,

Amen.
