Many years ago, after a particularly blessed Jesus Film outreach in Soshanguve, where five teams showed the film simultaneously over three evenings, we spent several weeks doing follow-up ministry in the area.
This formed part of the large Jacaranda Sunshine Project in Pretoria.
One of the projects was Magdaleen’s vegetable garden initiative in Soshanguve, which continued for six months.
She taught people in the informal settlement how to plant and care for vegetables in a garden bed about the size of a doorway.
Every week, a practical demonstration was held in a different person’s yard.
Week after week, she arrived with a trailer full of compost, gave practical demonstrations, distributed seeds to those who had prepared their garden beds, and even gave away lemon trees where successful vegetable gardens had been established.
All these supplies were generously donated by individuals and nurseries.
While she was busy with the vegetable gardens, Kobus, our youngest son (about four years old at the time), was having adventures of his own.
With at least ten little boys following closely behind him, they chased chickens all over the neighbourhood.
About twenty minutes later, the whole group would return from the other side of the settlement, completely exhausted but full of joy!
These are precious memories of the wonderful experiences with which the Lord has blessed us over the years.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.”
Matthew 9:37–38
May the Lord also use you to make a difference in the lives of others in your own unique way. Whether through prayer, financial support, or practical involvement, you are part of God’s work in His harvest field.
Thank you for helping us to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
May the Lord richly bless you.
Elke week is ’n praktiese demonstrasie in iemand anders se erf aangebied.
Mag die Here jou ryklik seën.
